GEEK!
Sunday, December 30, 2007 geek's great dinner
We originally wanted to have our dinner at Bali Thai as that is our usual restaurant that we would go for, its nice environment and services, but we soon changed that idea and decided to give it a try at Fig & Olive (Vivocity branch). Fig & Olive serves mostly Mediterranean food and it was our first time there. The prices for each dish range around Swensen's price line roughly about >$10 but <$22 (i think). I ordered the Fish Melted Cheese which is served together with coleslaw, boiled vegetables, tartar sauce and of course the fish with melted cheese on top (Dory fish to be exact). My parents and my sis + her husband ordered some pasta and steak which i didn't get to sample but it seems nice. When my order came, i was absolutely shocked with the size of the plate and the amount of serving they gave me. My dory was cut into three thick pieces and it wasn't as oily like those you found at LJS. Also, the bread crumbs that covered the fish was well cooked. Anyway, the serving is HUGE even for me (Im a moderate eater fyi) and the fish tasted AWESOME....the best dory i ever had even better compared to Swensen's. I also love their fast services and their waitress gave a wonderful service which at first i assume gonna be sucky cause they seem abit minah...lol no offence. Eating at Fig & Olive at Vivo, comes with a great view of sentosa but it can be a little distracting as the tables outside are set near the access path way for shoppers to walk around vivo. At times i felt like an animal in a exhibition in the zoo as people kept staring at what im eating.......HATED IT! Overall i would CERTAINLY come again for their meal even-though it was kinda expensive but their food and services beats the price. After that, all of us walked around VIVO, window shopping and stuff and thats when i saw a Canon showroom and showed my parents the camera of my dream lol....well technically no....im going for other brands....they then gave the green light and assured me that i will be getting either next week or the week after probably second week of January. Well, im kinda excited about it...i just have to be patient. Back to the window shopping, my sister and i have never really shopped together cause we're not technically close cause of the 7 years differences but this is the first time she brings me around and shopped with me. Well she bought her Guess purse cause of the year end sale and i didn't buy anything cause i already bought the things i need. About an hour or so after the walking and shopping, my mom wanted to sit and have coffee. We sat at Delifrance Bistro at Harbourfront centre and all of us ordered desserts and my dad had a smoked breast duck salad (ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS) which is kinda ex in my opinion but their desert are damn NICE! i love the muffin that has the hot chocolate and ice cream on the side (its name was someting in French....duh!....couldn't remember it).....absolutely sinful......but i ordered the crepe suzette which is a crepe with peaces inside and orange+ lemon sauce around it and vanilla ice-cream.....it has a tangy taste but no less delicious It was a great day with delicious meal and great company...not forgetting the total bill for everything. I think my parents spent almost $180 just on FOOD.......GAWD!! Thats a first...hahaha....like my mom say, you can't put price on family and it was so true.......i really enjoy it.
